Mazhar ve Fuat - Türküz Türkü Çağırırız! (WONDERFUL PSYCHEDELIC FOLK-ROCK TURKEY 1973)

"Mahmut Mazhar Alanson" started playing the guitar during his high school years. In 1966, Mazhar formed the band Kaygisizlar ("The Carefree") along with "Aziz Fuat Güner" and "Sadik Kuyas". They played covers of "The Beatles", "Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young" and "The Rolling Stones" and collaborated with the renowned Turkish Pop singer "Barış Manço".
Later on, "Özkan Ugur" joined the band, and in 1972 the trio was renamed MFÖ, after the initials of the members. While Özkan was serving his military duty, Mazhar and Fuat released their first album "Türküz Türkü Çağırırız!" ("We are Turks, we sing Turkish folk songs").
The album song "Güllerin Içinden" ("From in-between the roses") brought the group to a broader audience.

In 1974, "Galip Boransu" and "Ayhan Sicimoğlu" joined the band, and the quintet took the name "Ipucu Beşlisi" ("Clue Quintet"). However, the band dissolved after a short time, and the group MFÖ continued to play as a trio again.

Later "Özkan Ugur" played Anatolian Rock music with "Barış Manço" in his band "Kurtalan Ekspres", in "TER" of "Erkin Koray", "Dostlar" of "Edip Akbayram", "Kardaşlar" of "Seyhan Karabay" and "Ersen ve Dadaşlar".
"Türküz Türkü Çağırırız!" (Yonca 5006, 1973) is top notch Turkish Folk Pop Psychedelic with a Western slant.

Mazhar ve Fuat: Hekimoğlu / Lale Akat: Elveda Mutluluğum Hoşgeldin Acılarım, 1 Numara ‎– A.K. 21, 1974

The album has plenty of absolutely beautiful melodies, an incense-filled feeling of mysticism, great upbeat tracks followed by haunting female ("Lale Akat")-sung Psychedelic tunes.
A very rich album with all the right moves: Fuzz at the correct places, superb moog work and fantastic harmony vocal.
